In January, I introduced a year-long project. Every month, I will be visiting one family and photographing whatever it is they are doing that day. The point is to document their lives over the course of the year, so there’s no staging and very little planning ahead. We just pick a day and I show up with my camera.
At the end of February, I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. It was unseasonably warm, so the family was using the opportunity to get some work done in the back yard. Lucky for me, that meant some quality time with the chickens (Bella, Chickita, and Emma)! Benjamin, the son, is missing from the photos because he was on a play-date, but the rest of the family was in attendance, along with one of Ellery’s friends.
What unfolded was a lovely afternoon of tending to the chickens, cherry blossom gazing, pogo sticking, and tree climbing.
