savor your summer with slice of life photography!

Ah, summer is in the air! And with it, a feeling of possibility. Here in Seattle, the sun finally made an appearance, the trees are green, flowers are in bloom, and the farmer’s markets are filling up with produce we’ve missed the rest of the year — artichokes, tomatoes, melons, oh my!

But life doesn’t stop for summer. We still have our normal responsibilities, don’t we? Work commitments, social commitments, not to mention bills to pay and laundry to fold. I’m always amazed when the end of summer hits. It seems to go by faster than any other season, doesn’t it? This year, in particular, I’m keenly aware of the passage of time. Each day, I see my belly expand a little and am one step closer to bringing home our baby girl.

What I love about Slice of Life photography is that we’ve got a way of slowing life down – even just a little bit. I’m so excited to be offering a summer session of the Slice of Life Project, my photography e-course, beginning July 11 and running for six weeks. In it, we will celebrate the beauty of summer while honoring the details of your everyday life. There will be photography tips along the way, plus lots of practice in uncovering the beauty in your life, even when it’s buried beneath papers and to-do lists and dirty dishes.

With my baby being born this fall, this will definitely be the last time I run the class this year, so if you’ve been wanting to take it, now might be a good time to do it! Remember, this class is for anyone with any amount of photography experience with any kind of camera. There is something for everyone in the class!

“Slice of Life provided a safe haven for me to get my feet wet in the world of photography. The lessons were practical and inspiring, and I learned both how to “see” my life, and how to capture it with the click of a shutter.” ~ Rachelle Mee-Chapman, Magpie Girl

“Anyone with a camera should consider this course. Whether you have a simple point and shoot camera or a fancy DSLR, the wonderfully written materials help you focus on seeing the beauty in the everyday moments around you. Darrah’s personality shined through in each email and it felt like a journey with a friend.” ~ Tammy Lee Bradley, founder of www.mortalmuses.com

“The Slice of Life Project was one of the best things that I have done for myself lately, hands down. Not only does Darrah have a remarkable talent for taking photos, she also has a gift for helping you open your eyes to what’s important in your life. She helps you see the beauty in chaos. She helps you see the bold color in your day-to-day. She has an encouraging, gentle & loving teaching style that leaves you smiling & believing in yourself.”
