carkeek park photo session | seattle family photographer

payday loan consolidation loan I photographed this beautiful family a few years ago when they were a family of three – and now they are a family of four! We had so much fun exploring at Carkeek Park, relaxing in the shade, playing on the playground, and of course, searching for fairies. Here’s a peek at one of the sweetest families ever!

meet the clovers

I spent much of my childhood with Sarah, sitting on her bed in her room, making up songs, reenacting scenes from “The Monkees” reruns (we were all about Davey Jones), swimming in the local pool, speaking our made-up language, and daydreaming about being grown-ups some day.

And then Sarah moved away in the fifth grade. There were a few sporadic letters and one cross-country trip to visit her. And then silence. We grew up and had lives and had no contact with each other, not because we weren’t thinking of each other, but because this is what happens in life. You lose touch. And life goes on.

But thanks to this little thing called Facebook, Sarah and I found each other a few years ago and reunited after more than 20 years apart. It was magical.

What I remembered most about Sarah was still in tact – her sensitive nature and great laugh, her adoration of animals and sea creatures and, and her love of art. It was no wonder that she ended up where she is – living by the sea with a loving family.

I visited her last week while I was in the Bay Area with my family. At one point, I looked up and saw my daughter playing with her son and realized that the daydreams we had all those years ago had come true, beyond anything we could have imagined.

I’m thrilled to share these photos with you – of my oldest friend, Sarah, her husband, Jeremy, and their wise old soul 1-year-old, Fox. Here’s to more dreams coming true…and to not waiting another twenty years for our next visit.

meet the johnstons | seattle family photography

There’s something that usually happens on the day of a photo session. Either your child will wake up at 4:00 in the morning, your baby will be teething and will cry inconsolably during the whole session, your face will break out in zits that day, or all of the above. It’s just the way it is. I don’t know why, but something won’t go as planned. And that’s okay! I love going with the flow and especially LOVE when things don’t go as planned.

So I was totally surprised when the Johnstons’ photo session went completely as planned. The weather was spectacular that day, their 8-month-old, Logan, was happy the whole time (and showing off her newfound skill of waving hi), and their dog even looked at the camera on cue. It was as if the stars aligned for us and we were able to enjoy our time together getting to know each other and taking photos.

Here’s a peek into our session, which we started at their home and then took a stroll to a nearby park. Meet Schuyler, Tara, and baby Logan. I think you’ll find them as delightful as I did!
