one year

Once upon a time, there was a girl who met a boy on a cold November day. She looked into his eyes and recognized something. Something warm. Something familiar. After years of searching and wondering and wandering, she had found her way home. She felt it in her heart. It was undeniable.

Time passed and on a cold September day, they shared stories, made sweet promises, and shared their heartfelt feelings in front of their most favorite people in the world. Then, the girl looked into the boy’s eyes and with tears and joy, they married one another.

And then they did this…because this is how they felt:

Time passed and before they knew it, the girl and boy were celebrating their one year anniversary. As spectacular as their wedding day was, they soon realized that the wedding was not about the flowers (which were gorgeous) or the food (which was tasty) or the color of the sash (which was a fantastic shade of orange.)

Getting married was about the days that followed the wedding. It was about the moments in between the highs and lows. It was about the quiet moments. It was about listening and really hearing. Looking and really seeing. Trusting, encouraging, and understanding.

Every day.

On this first anniversary, the girl will look into the boy’s eyes once again and thank him for hearing her. Seeing her. Trusting, encouraging, and understanding her.

Happy anniversary, my love. Thank you for an amazing year. I love the crap outta you!
