Dear Sadie,
You are nine months old today! You’ve officially been out as long as you were in my belly. How is that possible?
I look at you today and am starting to see glimmers of the girl you are becoming. Your personality has blossomed this month. We are starting to see a funny, inquisitive girl. You study everyone and everything that crosses your path. I have a feeling you are taking notes as you watch and witness the world around you. Some people think you are a serious baby, but I think you are constantly observing. You know much more than you let on about us – about everything.
You’ve always been this way. From the moment you arrived, you have had a depth in your eyes. When you look at people, it’s as if you are looking into their souls. I have no idea what you are going to be when you grow up (heck, I don’t know what I’M going to be when I grow up), but whatever it is, I have a feeling you will help people in some way. Your sensitive nature is front and center and I think it will take you far.
The big news this month is that you are crawling! A few days ago, you crawled for the very first time at a book store. I held a book out and asked if you wanted to turn the page. You crawled over and turned the page like it was nothing – like you’ve been crawling your whole life. No big deal.
Not only does it bring me such joy that your first crawl happened at a book store, but it was the same exact book store where your dad and I had our first date. How about that?! Some day I will tell you the story about our first date. I will probably tell it to you over and over until you get tired of hearing it. But it’s a good story!
What I will tell you now is that you were there on that first date. Both your dad and I were ready to meet “the one” and start a life together. And it was clear that our life together would include a third person – you!
As much as we always dreamed of having children, we never could have imagined how perfect you would be for us. Even at nine months old, you fit in like a glove. You are funny and sweet and laugh at our silly jokes. What we didn’t expect is how much you would encourage us to do new things, go new places, and how wide you would open our hearts.
You bring us so much joy. Happy birthday, Sadie-bug!
Love,
Mama

And when she is a reading person she will especially love THIS entry. and when she asks: “where did I come from?” you can prove it was a book store! I am in awe of your planning!
